Quick update

Tammy had an update almost prepared last night, and then Sophie woke up.

She will update soon. It is still a real struggle.

Sophie only wants Tammy still. She clings to her constantly. She is taking in more liquids but no solids. Tammy is physically exhausted from carrying her. We are all three emotionally wiped out.

There have been a few glimmers of hope, but they are few and far between.

We know that she is grieving heavily for her major life change. We also know that acceptance of us will come.

  1. Hello,

I am here visiting your blog from the RQ. Your situation in China sounds like ours when we gathered our daughter into our arms in 2007. She did not cry at all during hand-over (she hummed, which we later discovered is what she did so soothe herself). The first few days were extremley difficult. She did not drink, eat or go to the toilet. We ended up feeding her formula with a syringe as she refused the bottle;. Like you, so clung to my husband for dear life. She could not look at anyone else (esp. her new mum). The good new is, things improved. By the time we left the province, she was drinking from a bottle (albeit with a large hole in the top of the teat) and was taking some soils, esp the congee and eggs. By the time we left China, she was happy to be with mum and her brothers (bio.) It took a few good months to overcome so major hurdles, however she is a remarkable child and is now full of life, love and laughter (she is four). God never gives us more than we can cope with. Blessing to you all.
    Allison
