Well, I don’t have any pictures to share from today since we spent most of the day traveling from Beijing to Guangzhou. It’s now about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night here in China. I’ve been up since about 3:30 this morning. I’m not really sure if it’s jet lag or anxiety. :) Oh well, in just a few short hours, Sophie will be in our arms! We will get her here in Guangzhou around 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. All adoptive families must come to Guangzhou during their stay in China, but since Sophie is from the Guangdong Province, we will stay in Guangzhou the entire trip. If she were in a different province, we would have to travel to her province to get her. However, she is about 200 miles south of here. But, all the orphanages from this province must bring the babies to the Civil Affairs office here in Guangzhou to meet the parents. I can’t imagine how scary that is going to be for her tomorrow. She has very likely never been outside the walls of the orphanage, and now she will be taken from all she’s ever known, put on a bus or a train to travel 200 miles and be handed over to complete strangers. Not strangers for long, though!! I pray that the Lord has already begun to prepare her heart for us.
It’s amazing to think that she’s probably just now going to bed for last time as an orphan! She has a mommy and daddy and family who already love her so much, and we haven’t even met her yet! That girl doesn’t know what she’s in for. ;) Sweet dreams, baby girl!
The Lord replied: "Look and be amazed! You will be astounded at what I am about to do! For I am going to do something in your own lifetime that you will have to see to believe." -Habakkuk 1:5
Praying for you and your sweet girl! I can't wait to see pictures tomorrow! You are just hours away now!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your pictures. I am sure no one will sleep tonight. God will watch over you all.
